It is so breath-taking that many people have even referred to it as being the eighth wonder of the world. But here’s something you might not have known: globally speaking, it’s the largest volcanic caldera that is still intact.  It is so high that you can  watch comfortably as animals. In other words, with a depth of 600 meters, it’s simply massive. You can see Geologic Formations, Specialty Museums and Cultural Tours of Masai Tribe and that will give you the best experience ever! Olduvai Gorge Museum is breathtaking.On the floor of the crater, you can see all these animals walking, eating and interacting in a variety of ecosystems, from forests and swamps to the gorgeous Lake Makat, which is a soda lake.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

On arrival at the Kilimanjaro International airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to a lodge around Arusha. On arrival at the lodge you will check in and have a few minutes talk with our safari manager who will brief you on your safari. Overnight at Planet Lodgeor a similar lodge. Dinner included.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The name Manyara is a Maasai word for the acacia tortilis tree species which the nomadic Maasai people use to make hedges to protect their homesteads and livestock. The park is highlighted with lots of these trees and the tree climbing lions which are often spotted taking afternoon siesta on the branches.  Other animals common in this park includes the impalas, giraffes buffaloes and impalas. Just at the entrance of this beautiful park is an underground water forest and a perfect habitat for the Blue monkeys, the baboons, bush bucks and the gigantic elephants sheltering in the sheds from the afternoon sun and devouring the green branches and twigs and herbs. The Hippo pools and at the Lake Manyara itself you will get the chance to observe the Hippos and the aquatic birds including the colorful Flamingos, pelicans, Egyptian geese, cormorants, and many more. You will take picnic lunch at one of the picnic sites in the national park. In the late afternoon you will drive to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Oremiti Lodge. All meals included.

Day 3: Lake Natron

After breakfast, drive to Lake Natron which is apparently the breeding site for the lesser and greater flamingos who migrate here every year from as far as Lake Nakuru, and Baringo in Kenya. On your way you will pass by Engaruka village where you will have brief stop to visit the Engaruka ruins. These are ruins of an ancient mysterious city with confiscated irrigation canals that are believed to be more than five hundred years old. You will be shown the canals and remnants of the buildings and graves. Thereafter, proceed and arriving in time for lunch at your camp. After lunch take a walk at the Lake. You will have the chance also to walk upstream of the Ngaresero River up to the water falls. On your walk upstream you are likely to encounter monkeys and baboons along the way. The waterfalls plunges into a nice refreshing pool where you can cool off from the hot sun (if you wish to) by taking a dip in this natural swimming pool seemingly like an Oasis in the middle of a desert. In the afternoon you can go for a sun downer at the Lake Natron. Dinner and overnight at Natron River Camp. All meals included

Day 4: Lake Natron – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti National Park. You will cross the Loliondo Game Controlled area where apparently the wildebeests herds cross on and around November and December when they are coming from Maasai Mara in Kenya. After the registration formalities at the Klein’s Gate, proceed with game drive en-route to your camp. Dinner and overnight at Thorntree Camp. All meals included.

Day 5: Full day in Serengeti National Park

Safari in Tanzania  is not complete without a visit to Serengeti National park. At day break you are out to the Serengeti plains for a sunrise game drive that normally offers the only chance of sighting the nocturnal species retiring and also the diurnal species waking up to a new day before you go back  for breakfast. After breakfast you will leave for a full day of game drives exploring the Serengeti. The resident animals and birds that stay all year round in Serengeti makes sure that the park is must visit whenever one travels to Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at Thorntree Camp. All meals included.

Day 6: Full day in Serengeti National Park

Safari in Tanzania  is not complete without a visit to Serengeti National park. At day break you are out to the Serengeti plains for a sunrise game drive that normally offers the only chance of sighting the nocturnal species retiring and also the diurnal species waking up to a new day before you go back  for breakfast. After breakfast you will leave for a full day of game drives exploring the Serengeti. The resident animals and birds that stay all year round in Serengeti makes sure that the park is must visit whenever one travels to Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at Thorntree Camp. Day 7: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater also referred to as the ‘Eden of Africa’ and also the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. Descend to the crater floor for a half day of game drive in search of the Big Five; The Elephants, Rhino, Lions, Leopard, and Buffaloes which can be sighted in a one day with a little bit of luck. In the Crater floor you expect to see animals at amazingly close range and these includes; zebras, topis, gazelles, hartebeests, warthogs, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, serval cats, silver backed jackals, and many more species. At the center of the Crater floor is Lake Makat where you expect to see a lot of aquatic bird life like the colorful flamingos, Egyptian geese, cormorants, grebes etc.  After taking picnic lunch at a designated picnic site near a hippo pool you will continue with game drives till later in the afternoon when you will ascend  and head to your lodge in Karatu Area. Dinner and overnight at Country Lodgeor Marera Valley Lodge. All meals included

Day 8: Lake Eyasi

Breakfast at the lodge and thereafter head to Lake Eyasi area for a cultural encounter of a life time. Eyasi is the home of a hunter –gatherer tribe known as the Hadzabe people with who have stood all the odds of westernization and still leave the ancient way of making a living through hunting animals and gathering fruits and tubers for food. The Hadza are a small ethnic group that have been able to co-exist harmoniously with nature. Other inhabitants of the region are the polygamous Datoga, herders who came from the Horn of Africa to this region following stock in search of pasture. It is possible to visit a village and a blacksmith’s shop that still uses ancient techniques to produce everyday objects, jewellery, and arrowheads for the neighbouring Hadzabe, who provide animal skins and wild honey in return. Only a few visitors who take a safari through Tanzania visit this region, but those who do are enthusiastic on their return.If you are lucky to have visited after the long rains, you can take a dip in the lake. Dinner and overnight at Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge.All meals included

Day 9: Tarangire National Park

Very early in the morning you will go for a traditional hunting session with the Bushmen and after breakfast you will check out of the lodge. Head to Tarangire National Park which is the third largest national park in Tanzania. Enjoy a full day of game drives in this fabulous national park highlighted with the gigantic baobab trees and abnormally large herds of elephants. At Tarangire you will have the chance to sight the rare oryx, and other animals the likes of zebras, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, cheetahs etc. The Tarangire River which is the life blood of this national park ensures a year round supply of water and the river beds takes center stage when animals gather to get this rare commodity resulting into magnificent wildlife actions when the predators try to grab a meal taking advantage of the moment. Later in the afternoon you will drive to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Sangaiwe Tented Lodge. All meals included

Day 10: Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Arusha town. Hot lunch at a restaurant in town before proceeding to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Zanzibar or back home.
